A native of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, I originally came to Oklahoma as a foreign exchange student at Smithville High School. When I graduated, I came to Carl Albert State College because I received scholarships that helped with the finances and I was excited about the low cost of attending Carl Albert. I am now a computer engineering and business major and I recently received the Leader of Promise scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, the first CASC student to ever receive this honor. Only 30 students nationwide received the scholarship.
Everything at CASC has met or
exceeded my expectations. The people are really friendly and helpful.
There is no fear—if I need something, I know I will get help from
someone.
I like the dorms here, they are comfortable, a
good place to study, and safe. I also appreciate the size of the
classrooms. English is difficult for international students and
interaction with instructors is very important. Small class sizes allow
me to ask questions of the instructor if I do not understand the
lecture.
Studying in the United States has definitely been a positive experience for me. Students here are really interested in learning about my county. When they ask me about Vietnam, it makes me feel like I’m at home.
I think CASC is a great place for
international students to begin their college career. The school helps
us develop leadership abilities, which is important to get transfer
scholarships to other colleges.
