FACT OF THE DAY ARCHIVE
What can I expect during the "Integrated Writing" task?
For this, you will first read a passage about an academic topic for three minutes. Afterward, you will listen to a lecture related to the topic. You will then be asked to summarize the major points made in the lecture and explain how those points relate to the passage you read.
To answer correctly, you must select the important information from the lecture and coherently and accurately present this information in relation to the relevant information from the reading. Your response should contain the following:
- The specific ideas, explanations, and arguments in the lecture that oppose or challenge points in the reading
- Brief, coherent, and accurate presentations of each point that you make; that is, the language you use should make sense and should accurately reflect the ideas presented in the lecture and the reading
- A clear, coherent structure that enables the reader to understand which points are related and which points are separated
